Thus, isn't the VC-1 codec "OpenSource" itself? But then, VLC, which is a free OpenSource soft, can decode VC-1. I'll probably say lots of silly thing, don't hesitate to (gently) correct meįirst of all, if I understand well, a codec is like a "protocol" on how to code/decode a video. This brought several questions to my mind, and I would like to be enlightened. ![]() I saw that it was possible to buy the appropriate codec here:, and (I hope), install it for the best. I then installed mediainfo, and discovered that the video format is VC-1, which omxplayer apparently can't decode natively. After having set the GPU_mem to 128M, I tried again, and it was no better. ![]() However, omxplayer, can't seem to be able to read a particular video. ![]() I'm kind of a newb here, and recently figured out how to stream movies from my desktop pc('s shared folder) to the pi, and redirect that to my TV, which is great.
